Here are the 5 fantastic stories from week 3 of the #NHS100Stories campaign. This week there have been stories from Acute, Community and Mental Health Trusts. There's been a fantastic response to the #NHS100Stories campaign with over 85,000 Twitter impressions in the first 14 days! Trusts are already contacting others in the network to find out more about how teams have made the changes featured in the stories - great evidence of the power of collaboration across the NHS. Here's a round-up of the inspiring stories from Week 2  

100,000s of staff and millions of patients are being impacted by new ways of working. More than 60 NHS Trusts comprising around 300,000 staff have been taking bold steps to ‘power up’ their frontline teams. The impact on patient care is being highlighted in an exciting new Twitter campaign #NHS100Stories which was launched last week, profiling 100 powerful stories in 100 days.

2015 has been a fantastic year for Listening into Action. More and more organisations are recognising that 'pulling the people lever' is the magic key to open the door to high performance. Employees spend a huge amount of time at work, and they want to feel both valuable and valued. This is the case in every people-centred organisation.  

  If you’re going to be top of any NHS league table in 2015-2016, perhaps it’s these ones? In the post-Mid Staffs era, at a time when there is increasing scrutiny from all quarters of everything that moves within NHS Provider Trusts, how do you, as a hard-pressed CEO, decide what to focus on first? The financials? The mortality indicators? Instances of patient harm relative to numbers treated? Agency costs? Or all of the above, and more?

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) and University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) have joined forces to focus on ambulance handover times in A&E at UHL, using Listening into Action (LiA) to connect people across the usual boundaries and come up with solutions together. Something special is going on at Barts Health. This is the largest NHS Trust in England, serving a population of 2.5 million, with more than 15,000 staff providing care across five hospital sites: Mile End Hospital, The Royal London Hospital, Newham University Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital.

‘Hearing Me: Understanding Hearing Loss’ is the work of a group of people from Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. They embraced Listening into Action and got together with a local charity to produce an entirely different approach to mandatory training.

South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (SSSFT) started adoption of Listening into Action (LiA) in March this year. The first 10 pioneering LiA Clinical Teams are about to complete their first round of work. Each has been following the LiA 7 Step 20 week process to decide on and deliver a small number of big impact changes that they know will improve care for their service users.

Frontline staff at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust have found a fun new way to promote the importance of hand hygiene at their Trust. They have written, directed, and starred in a fabulous music video 'Let's Wash' as part of Global Handwashing Day - there's definitely something familiar about the music ....

The latest CQC report for Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust has shown a fundamental shift in culture since adoption of LiA began in January 2014. This is great news, especially given that staff at the Trust are dispersed over a 1,000 square mile area. Paul Jennings, Chief Execuitve, is justifiably pleased with these findings

Over the past year, The Rotherham NHS FT have started adoption of LiA as a way of working to help engage with and unblock the way for colleagues. After a year of learning they are now taking this to a whole new level, using LiA to connect people around some of the most important opportunities to improve patient care.  

More than 50 NHS organisations have adopted LiA since 2012, with another 50 involved in pilot work and early adoption work before them. 100,000s staff are working the LiA way, making changes to improve the quality and experience of care for millions of patients. University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust have just completed their first year of Listening into Action (LiA). Their LiA Teams shared their achievements at a recent Pass it On Event and have passed the baton on to 20 more teams who start work on new focus areas on the Trust - spreading and embedding this new way of working to improve care for their patients.  

More than 50 NHS Trusts have been adopting and spreading Listening into Action (LiA) over the past three years, resulting in thousands of stories about the impact on quality of care and the patient experience, achieved by teams who feel empowered, valued and proud. It is common knowledge that engaged staff deliver the best patient care. LiA is now the leading approach in the UK healthcare sector for improving patient care through higher employee engagement

The Access Team at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust have used LiA to make some fantastic improvements to their service. Nicky Griffiths, LiA Lead for the first 12 months of their journey, tells their story: “Our Access team is, in effect, the front door to our organisation. It is the single point of access to all the Mental Health Services.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust began their LiA journey last September, and will soon be showcasing their achievements so far at their LiA 'Pass it On' event in July. Lisa Walton, Operations Director for Operating Services, Critical Care and Anaesthesia is working with a team who wanted to reduce cancelled operations. They are already seeing some fantastic results which Lisa shares here
